RTH Lubbers puts longer semi-trailers onto the road

Posted on 11th June 2013 By Charlotte McGhie

Aberdeen-based RTH Lubbers has taken deliver of its two allocated longer semi-trailers, as part of the DfT’s ten-year pilot of the over-length units.

RTH Lubbers, part of Lubbers Transport Group, is now running two of the 14.6m variants on its overnight trunking route between Aberdeen and Great Yarmouth.

Tony Tailford, MD at RTH Lubbers (pictured), said: “Given that our core market is oil and gas the equipment we tend to transport is quite large therefore anything we can do to improve our offering environmentally as well as for our customers is crucial for our continued growth.”Tony Tailford, MD at RTH Lubbers

The two extra-long SDC flat trailers – claimed to be the only of their type in operation in the UK – offer a 7% increase in lading space each.

In January the operator revealed plans to expand its fleet after increasing its turnover.
