Category C & C+E (Fast Track HGV Class 2 + Class 1) Training Course – 6 Days
Our combined Category C & C+E HGV training package is the fastest route to a full artic licence. Also known as a Class 1 licence, Category C+E is the highest HGV qualification you can hold – and our 24-hour programme, delivered over 6 days, gets you there for both rigid and articulated vehicles in one efficient package.
We coordinate everything; from your medical and theory support through to both practical tests — so you can focus on passing.
Why go for the combined C & C+E? Holding both licences gives you access to the widest range of HGV driving roles — from local rigid work to long-haul artic driving.
- Dual qualification — earn both licences in one package rather than returning for a second course later
- Earning potential — C+E roles typically start from £40,000+
- Career flexibility — local deliveries, long-distance haulage, port and container transport
- Strong demand — qualified artic drivers remain in short supply across the UK
What jobs can you get with C & C+E? With both licences you’re qualified for a broad range of roles, including:
- Local and regional delivery driver
- Long-distance and international haulage
- Port and container transport
Many roles also include overnight allowances, performance bonuses and employer-sponsored CPC hours.
How the process works
Step 1: Medical & provisional licence application A DVLA medical is required before HGV training can begin. This must be carried out independently, we can arrange a local medical centre that offers the examination. We support you through the provisional C and C+E licence application at the same time.
Step 2: Theory test We provide access to revision materials and mock tests, and book your theory tests once you’re ready. You’ll need to pass:
- Multiple choice questions
- Hazard perception test
- CPC Module 2 (if applicable)
Step 3: Category C practical training Practical training begins with a Category C rigid vehicle, covering vehicle controls and safety checks, on-road driving and manoeuvres, and CPC Module 4 where applicable.
Step 4: Category C practical test We book your DVSA Category C test. Once passed, you move straight into C+E training — no waiting for your licence to arrive.
Step 5: Category C+E practical training Training moves to a full-length articulated lorry, covering coupling and uncoupling, reversing and bay parking, and dual carriageway and motorway driving.
Step 6: Category C+E practical test We book your DVSA C+E test. Pass both and you’ll hold a full Class 1 HGV licence — the highest category available.
