How the process works

Step 1: Eligibility check To begin your C+E training you’ll need a valid Category C licence. If a Driver CPC is applicable, we’ll confirm what’s required at this stage.

Step 2: Practical training (4 days) Training takes place over 4 days with DVSA-approved instructors in a modern full-length artic. Sessions cover:

  • Coupling and uncoupling trailers
  • Reversing and bay parking
  • Mirror work, lane discipline and cornering with trailers
  • Rural, urban and dual carriageway driving
  • Tachograph use and walkaround checks
  • Mock test routes

Step 3: DVSA practical test We book your official Category C+E driving test, which includes:

  • Show Me / Tell Me vehicle questions
  • Reversing exercise
  • Controlled stop
  • On-road driving assessment

Pass, and your full Category C+E licence is issued.
