M4 junctions reopen

Posted on 16th July 2012 By Charlotte Haye

The Highways Agency closed junctions 2 – 3 of the M4 last Friday night because in entering the final stages of a repair programme, a new crack was found in a highly stressed part of the bridge supports.

The repair has been successful and the motorway has now reopened to all cars. However, work on the repair programme continues and for this reason vehicles weighing 7.5 tonnes or more will still be restricted from using the motorway between these junctions. A diversion route remains in place via the A4 and A312 dual carriageways.

Visit the Highways Agency website to stay updated on progress with reopening this part of the M4 for vehicles over 7.5 tonnes [ http://www.highways.gov.uk/ ].
