A LORRY packed full of chocolate burst into flames on the A43 this morning – however firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze before its contents ended up as a sticky puddle.

The fire started in the lorry’s trailer shortly before 9am, on Lumbertubs Way, close to the Round Spinney roundabout, causing firefighters to close part of the road during the morning rush hour.

Firefighters from The Mounts and Moulton fire stations were called to the scene had had the blaze under control within half an hour.

Fire investigators have since said the cause of the blaze was over-heated brakes and the chocolate the lorry was carrying was not damaged by the flames.
