{"id":863,"date":"2012-07-23T11:19:40","date_gmt":"2012-07-23T09:19:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.surreyandhampshirehgvtraining.co.uk\/news\/news\/olympic-traffic-chaos-predicted-for-dorset-hauliers.php"},"modified":"2012-07-23T11:19:40","modified_gmt":"2012-07-23T09:19:40","slug":"olympic-traffic-chaos-predicted-for-dorset-hauliers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.surreyandhampshirehgvtraining.co.uk\/index.php\/olympic-traffic-chaos-predicted-for-dorset-hauliers\/","title":{"rendered":"Olympic traffic chaos predicted for Dorset hauliers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Concerns are growing that hauliers delivering into <a href=\"http:\/\/www.london2012.com\/venue\/weymouth-and-portland\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Weymouth<\/a> could become caught up in chronic congestion after it emerged there may not be enough capacity on the trains for Olympic spectators.<\/p>\n<p>The Dorset town is the venue for sailing competitions during the Games and, according to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fta.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Freight Transport Association<\/a>, it is \u201cthe most difficult and most challenging\u201d location outside of London.<\/p>\n<p>Local reports say South West Trains is recommending people visiting Weymouth travel there by car, but the chair of the Brewery Logistics Group, Mike Bracey, says that could spell chaos: \u201cWhy the hell was this not brought up before?\u201d he says.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s stuff they must have known about for donkey\u2019s years. It\u2019s going to be more of a problem than London. There are 60,000 people going down there and there\u2019s just one main road \u2013 the A354.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bracey adds: \u201cThere\u2019s hardly any hours to get in and out. Everybody is trying to get in to do their deliveries early in the morning.
