Here at Surrey and Hampshire HGV Training<\/a> we understand that the thought of beginning your career can be daunting. Where do you start? What training do you need? Have you got enough experience?<\/p>\n

Understandably you\u2019ll have a lot of questions about your chosen career but we\u2019re here to let you know that you\u2019re not alone! Lots of young, aspiring drivers are making their way into the HGV driving industry and we\u2019ve got a great case study to show you how some people get their foot in the door:<\/p>\n

How Did It Begin?<\/h2>\n

David Hourd had always had an interest in driving and when choosing his school placement he decided to go for a placement at a logistics company.<\/p>\n

After the two week placement, he had impressed the company he had worked for so much that they suggested he contact them again once he had left school.<\/p>\n

Getting Into the Business<\/h2>\n

After David had left school he took the company up on their offer and contacted them; he was offered an interview which led to a job offer.<\/p>\n

He began work at a Transport Trainee and was involved in everything from accepting deliveries to communicating with customers across the country. Having been heavily involved in the organisation of deliveries and collections with HGVs, David chose to pursue a career in HGV driving.<\/p>\n

Becoming an HGV Driver<\/h2>\n

David has recently passed his HGV driving test and is now beginning his career as a driver collecting and delivering goods across the UK. David said:<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve always wanted to be a driver, so I\u2019m very happy\u2026 I meet new people when I\u2019m out on the road and I learn new things every day.\u00a0 Dealing with the company\u2019s customers is also a very rewarding part of my job, as I\u2019m helping them get what they need when they need it.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
